Meghan How Is the Baby Room in Your New Palace
It's a boy! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle today announced the arrival of their first child. The tiny Prince will now move into his new nursery at Frogmore Cottage, which may look something like this.
With no official word from the palace, we can only speculate and pay heed to the rumours around renovations to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new home at Frogmore Cottage.
Word on the street is the couple have redesigned the cottage – made up of five separate apartments that previously served as living quarters for palace staff – into a spacious home for the growing family.
We've also heard of a granny flat for Meghan's mother Doria to occupy during visits, and there are rumours of a yoga studio, too.
As for the nursery, it's said Meghan has opted for vegan paints infused with eucalyptus oils, and it's reported she's chosen neutral shades.
Modsy, a virtual interior design startup, is taking some of the guesswork out and have taken the liberty of designing a nursery for the royal couple's first child according to how they believe it will appear.
Of course, Harry and Meghan's bub will no doubt be attending sleepover's at Uncle William and Aunty Kate's place in Kensington Palace, and also at their great-grandmother Elizabeth's place in Buckingham Palace, so Modsy has imagined nurseries there, too.
Meghan Markle's nursery design at Frogmore Cottage
"Meghan's nursery style is eclectic minimalist. The pieces have a casual, collected feel and the space is styled with a curated eye," says Alessandra Wood, vice president of style at Modsy.
The light and airy space pays homage to Meghan's upbringing in California with touches of wildlife, natural textures and a neutral colour palette. "We think her design style would emulate a casual and easy aesthetic that feels put together yet effortless. Slightly modern pieces come together in this nursery and are balanced by an eclectic edge in this dreamy neutral space."
Prince Harry's nursery design at Frogmore Cottage
Harry's love of animals shines through in this warm and cosy safari-themed space. He mixes the classic colours associated with British design, and blends contemporary pieces with collected, eclectic decor.
"We think Harry's version of the nursery would take inspiration from more masculine, British design and nods to his polo days, as well as his known youthful, fun energy. His love for travel is reflected in the design as well. He'd definitely want to create a space where the baby is inspired to travel and explore," says Alessandra.
Prince William and Kate Middleton's nursery design at Kensington Palace
Baby's nursery is chic and on trend, just like his or her Auntie. The design for Harry and Meghan's home-away-from-home nursery is classic and polished with a white colour palette and timber pops.
"We know Kate was quite fond of white wicker decor when she was creating nurseries of her own, so we've included hints of wicker throughout. Overall, we love the elegantly practical edge to this nursery. It feels incredibly elevated and comfortably inviting," Alessandra says.
Queen Elizabeth II's nursery design at Buckingham Palace
Baby Sussex will no doubt look forward to sleepovers in the palace, especially if the space was as cosy as this reimagined room in Queen Elizabeth's design style. "A fresh take on the classic English cottage style, Queen Elizabeth's design takes inspiration from the English countryside. The cottage style in the nursery is sweet and inviting with elegant details," says Alessandra.
